Changes in education.

Lately we have seen some changes in our education system, and these changes are going to give negative effects so we have to stop them.

In short, pupils will start school at the age of five and will finish school at the age of thirteen. At high-school, students will be from thirteen to fifteen and they could start the university studies at the age of sixteen.
Children have to learn how to write and read before being five years old. At the same way, they can’t finish school at the age of thirteen, because they don’t have enough knowledge for their life.
Kids are not ready to go to the university at the age of sixteen, because they are teenagers, what will happen when they live alone?
The Ministry of Education, like the principal interested, has to take measures to improve the situation and change everything. The new education system has to be suitable to nowadays, this is a matter that can be forgotten by the Ministry, because it is the main responsible of this.

I hope these changes won’t be a reality and the Ministry changes all of them.

Manhattan, by Woody Allen.

Manhattan was directed by Woody Allen in 1979. The film is ninety six minutes long and it is produced by United Artist.
Its main characters are Woody Allen as Isaac Davis, Diane Keaton as Mary Wilkie, Michel Murphy as Yale Pollack, Meryl Streep as Jill Davis, Mariel Hemingway as Tracy, and Anne Byrne as Emily Pollack.
The film was nominated for two Academy Awards in 1979: best supporting actress (Mariel Hemingway) and Best Writing. It also won the BAFTA award for Best Film and the National Board of Review award, Best Film too, both in 1979.

This film was set in the borough with the same name: Manhattan in New York City. To the director, this city is his home and almost his movies have been set her but the latest ten years, because Woody Allen has recorded in Europe, for example in London, Rome, Barcelona, …
Manhattan is in black-and-white. At the beginning, Woody Allen opens his film with a montage of images of Manhattan, these around four minutes, are one of the reasons that the film is on the list of “100 Years… 100 Laughs” of American Film Institute. The voice of Woody Allen is describing his love to New York City. This moment is a tribute from Woody Allen to New York and here appears all best well-known to the city.
In the film we can see typical places of Manhattan like Chinatown, Washington Square Park with its galleries, bridges which connect the different boroughs, and a lot of street with brownstone where upper-class families used to live and tenements in the Lower East Side of Manhattan, where lived racial or cultural groups. The place which Woody Allen shows us much more is Central Park in the center of the city.
However, we can’t see in Manhattan typical sites as Madison Square Garden, Rockefeller Center, Times Square or the Statue of Liberty. Perhaps it happens because the film is shot in Manhattan.

The film is about a man, Isaac Davis (Woody Allen), twice-divorced, who works in television but he wants to be a writer. He has a relationship with a seventeen-year-old- girl, Tracy (Mariel Hemingway). However, he doesn’t love this girl. His ex-wife, Jill (Meryl Streep) is writing a book about their marriage and he doesn’t like this idea. She comes out of the closet and she lives with her girlfriend, Connie (Karen Ludwing) and his son. His best friend is Yale (Michael Murphy) who is married to Emily (Anne Byrne) although he is having an affair with Mary (Diane Keaton).
Yale decides to break up with Mary because he loves his wife. Isaac falls in love with Mary and he breaks up with the young girl and he says to her she has to go to London to study. Mary and Isaac start a relationship.
Emily wants to know the Isaac’s new girlfriend, and after a several meetings, Yale and Mary are falling in love again. In a meeting, Emily says to Isaac he introduced Mary to Yale, and Isaac doesn’t tell the truth but he says he is thinking in Tracy again.
He goes to see Tracy but she is leaving for London. He doesn’t want to she goes to London, but she says to him if their love is true, they will be together when she comes back.

I recommend Manhattan because it is an interesting film where you can see New York City. The soundtrack is beautiful, because Woody Allen thought in George Gershwin’s music to make this film, and it has an extraordinary picture.
As a Woody Allen’s film, it is a special film and you can find his personality around the main characters, over all in his character.
In my point of view, Manhattan is a very good film because it is shot in black-and-white and it provide with a beautiful atmosphere to the film.
Nowadays Manhattan has changed, because this film was shot in 1979, but I love going there because I like visiting Central Park and the galleries in Washington Square Park, besides other places like Chinatown, Times Square or Madison Square Garden.

A good documentary.

A good documentary.

Few days ago, I watched a documentary about education on television. It deals about how to teach in one-room schoolhouse in small villages. It was very interesting because this way of teching is not explained by teachers at the university.

A one-room schoolhouse is a place where teacheres have to teach to different courses. When I was a child I was in a shool like that. The teacher taught us from the first course to the highest one. When he taught the first one, he wanted all courses to pay attention, because we all knew that knowlegde, and when he finished, he told them to do homework.

This was exactly which the documentary deals about. Several teachers talked about their experiences, what they did to know how to do, what books or different websites they read or visited and what of them were the best. We could see a one-room schoolhouse and a teacher explaining to his pupils.

In my opinion, all teachers from this school have to watch it because it can help them in their job, because other colleagues explain them jobs and give some advices which can be very useful.

An embarrassing situation.

When I was twenty, I was studying at the University. I used to go to my college by bus, and I used to come back home on foot.

Nevertheless, at this day I had to be there until half-past nine. It was winter, and outside it was cold, so I decided to return home by bus.

It was the first time that I got the bus to return. When I was waiting for the bus, it stated to rain. I wasn’t wearing the right clothes for this weather.

When the bus arrived, there were a lot of people with me and they started to run to get the bus. I didn’t mind being the last one until I got into the bus which was plenty. I couldn’t hold on to anything…

When the bus continued its route, I knew that if I didn’t hold on to anything, I would fall down. The bus stopped suddenly and I fell down over a girl.

Everybody started to laugh. Not only I fell down, but all my clothes were dirty.

Al least, the girl started to laugh too, so she didn’t get angry with me.

The most embarrassing situation in my life.

When I was twenty-four I was living in Mexico.

I had known some Spanish people ther, but I was always with a boy from the Canary Islands. We had met a girl from Puerto Rico who was studying there like us, and we decided to go out with her a night.

After a great dinner, we came back to the place where she had parked her car, because she had decided to rent a car the time that she was living in Mexico.

When we were arriving, we noticed she couldn’t move her car because somebody had parked close to her car. She started to shout and, immediately, the car’s owner arrived.

They had been arguing for a long time when my friend got into her car and crashed into the man’s car. He called the police and when they arrived we knew she hadn’t passed her driving license! The worst thing was that she wanted us to pay her damages!

It was the worst moment in my life and the most embarrassing too because I couldn’t believe that these thing were happening to me.

Introducing and describing myself.

Introducing and describing myself.

 Hi everybody!
My name is Marisol and I am from Andalusia. Well, I was born in Madrid, because my mother was born there and when she and my father got married they used to live in Madrid. When I was two years old they decided to move to Andalusia because my grand-parents were living here and they were alone. We moved to a little town close to Extremadura and when I was fourteen we moved to my current town, Pozoblanco, where my father was born and my grand-parents were living. This is my childhood and my adolescence too.

When I was eighteen years old I went to Granada to study and live there. I spent five years there studying History of Art. The last year that I was in Granada I got a scholarship for going to Guadalajara, Mexico, and I did not lose the opportunity and I went there. I was there for six months and it was a great experience. I recommend to everybody that is studying to go to another city or country to study, if they can, of course.

When I came back to Spain I started to study again, but in Cordoba because this city is nearer than Granada from my town.
Last year I was working in my town doing one of the best jobs that I had never had. I was making, with my workmates, an inventory about the heritage of my town. It was the best experience in my life because I could work in something related to my studies.

Currently, I am unemployed but I look for a job whereas I am studying. So, if you need my help, please call me! I don’t mind moving.

On the other hand I have two dogs. They are Spanish Water dog, similar as Obama’s dog, but they are not like his. Their names are Mara and Gotten. My boyfriend and me, we both bought Mara in Cordoba four years ago. Last year Mara was pregnant and we decided to have one of her puppies with us, he is Gotten. Mara is brown and Gotten is brown and white. They are the best dogs in the world, for me of course.
